Then, the masses come out of the woodwork to fawn and console the guy whose iCar broke because they too love it and understand that sometimes, its just better to not know how the things you own work so he doesn't dare consider changing his brand.
Meanwhile the homebrew computing guys are in a top fuel dragster and laughing their asses off.

Windows became too much for your old laptop? Time for a Linux install! The engine swap of the computer world.

Had you posted this about 4 hours ago, I would have fallen out of my chair laughing.

I had a WiFi issue with a MacBook Air I was fixing up for my dad and went to an Apple IRC channel... where they told me to update my router's firmware. I said "Why should I upgrade my router for *1* device when a dozen other devices are playing along just fine with the router?"
I ended up fixing it myself.

Hardware, perhaps, but after Dell, Gateway (*don't ask, for the love of pete, don't ask!*) and HP... Apple hardware is slightly more reliable. Not perfect, but not bad.
Software... Windows is a PAIN IN THE @$$ to troubleshoot why it isn't working right, with inconsistent symptoms, and cryptic, or non-existant error messages, and having to try and stumble around the registry, in addition to the file directory.
Mac OS is Unix that is actually freindly to use, and just WORKS without a computer engineering degree required. (although other unix flavors have made big improvements over the last 5-10 years.)
Windows... Yeah, you can mess with it... and then figure out why it never runs as smoothly again. You can change the oil filter, but from then on, it will miss on cylinder 3 intermittently, foul PCV valves every other week, and the transmission will be slow to engage a forward gear, from then on... and you have to try and figure out how changing the oil filter caused that.
Oh, and re-build the engine every 6 months to make sure that the gas hasn't introduced sand into the engine, regardless of what fuel filter you use. (viruses and spyware/malware)
As a professional... I like things that WORK.
Most users aren't savvy.
Most users who think they are savvy, are dangerously unaware of what they are doing at least some of the time, and more access to system files only means more propensity to cause system failures.
Most users who actually are savvy (a small number of people), are about as common as people who can build a car from parts in their garage, in the automotive world.
But maybe it is just me... the two windows machines on my workbench today refuse to boot, and refuse to respond to diagnostic repairs, and are going to require full OS rebuilds, and thus, full app re-installs, and backup data scans to avoid re-installing spyware.
The other four Mac OS machines on my bench today, were ALL done with their repairs or updates in less combined time than trying to troubleshoot and recover data from just ONE of the two windows machines, that will have to be re-built tomorrow.
Imagine if the old windows car required a frame off complete restoration, for the second time in a year... the Apple car just requires a diagnostic scan and directory checkup, and some software update patches, and then runs as good as new.
